A Day At The Markets

When Saturday comes around, there’s nothing better than hitting up Glebe markets with the girls. It’s definitely the best for a good bargain and have never left empty handed! This week I was lucky enough to get brand new One Teaspoon denim shorts for just $30! I’ve wanted a pair for a while so was thrilled to score them in time for the summer. It was so fun catching up with my blogging buddies Alisha and Jo. The market was bustling, and at 10am it was already heating up for a scorching day. Coming into summer, I think it’s important to wear a hat to protect myself from the sun, so you might see a few too many posts with a fedora to come.

I am in love with this Faithfull The Brand dress. I literally discovered the brand on Instagram. If you love off the shoulder and pinstripes with a bohemian twist, this is the label for you. Their new collection is literally to die for, and can’t get enough of it. Currently they have the best white top with black pinstripes that bares shoulders. So nice with a pair of denim cut offs and casual Birkenstocks for the warmer days that will be gracing Sydney. Last week I had my hair lightened and I'm thrilled with the results. I've gone a shade lighter in my Ombre. After an amazing treatment, my hair felt super soft. If you are looking for a new hairdresser in Sydney hit up Paul Anthony based in Potts Point. His work is amazing and his attention to detail is spot on!

It’s exactly one year since I launched the blog, and as of next week I’ll be refreshing it a little with a new name! It won’t be all that different, but felt with the change of habitat and a slight change in style it seemed appropriate. Thanks again for all your support on both here and on my Instagram page (bohochic_nlt) It really menas a lot to me and makes the evening blog sessions straight from work really worth it. I’ve also met the best people since first launching and can’t wait to meet more creative fashionistas in the months to come.

Hope you have all had a great weekend, and a chilled Sunday night!

Playsuit In Paddington

Last week, I was thrilled to have a lunch date with my partner in crime Andrea and Warren from Boy In The Black Bow Tie blog. It was a beautiful sunny day and the tree lined streets of Paddington were beautifully blossomed. It definitely reminds me of spring in London, and it’s nice to have that little touch home away from home. As mentioned in a previous blogpost, this area of the city is one of my favourites. The terraced houses with endless balconies add a touch of quaintness to a neighbourhood that is walking distance to the beaches, and some of the coolest shops on the East Coast. I could really see myself moving to this area in the future.

Today’s look is one of the first outfits that channels back to my blog name: Boho Chic. Now the weather is getting warmer, I really want to style more bohemian care free looks, and living in Bondi is the perfect place for this. This playsuit is relaxed, loose fitted and perfect for an afternoon of lunch and catch ups. Day to day, I would probably style this look with flat slides but really loving these wooden sandals that I bought off Andrea at Bondi markets a few weeks back. For only $5! They are really comfortable and aren’t too dressy so the look still feels boho. I also like the movement of the playsuit, especially from waist down.

Over the next couple of weeks I will be changing my blog name to fit in with my change of lifestyle since moving to Sydney. I will be showcasing more bohemian looks with a twist of tailoring and really looking forward to developing new content for you all to read. It seems the perfect time, as of next week my blog will be ticking over to its second year! It’s been an amazing year, and so thankful for everyones support with the move to Australia. Thanks for being awesome!

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Co-ordinating The Streets Of Surry

Surry Hills is a place that I should definitely hang out in more often. It has some of the best coffee joints, serious street style and cute terraced houses. I have to be honest about one thing…..I think I’m becoming an Eastern Suburbs snob lol. The reason being the queue for the buses to leave Bondi is getting ridiculous nearing summer so I’m staying in my little bubble! Last week was an exception. I have been eager to shoot in Surry Hills again for a while, it’s been such a long time and I always like to make a day of it. Last week I met up with my partner in crime Andrea to talk about new jobs over coffee. We have both started new jobs and finally have more time on our hands to focus on our blogs thanks to our new schedules. Definitely more lunches and mid week plans on the cards! Andrea introduced me to Cook & Archies and it seriously has the best tables in Sydney! Black and white marble, soooooo good for pictures! From what seems like 20 pictures to get this blog post up and running, it’s actually quite the opposite! We literally trek around finding the right light and backdrops for sometimes hours. Which is why we always wear flat shoes and change to heels!

Today’s look is my first collaboration with Australian brand Lucid Label. This set caught my eye with it’s abstract print and royal blue hues. Perfect for the early summer that is currently gracing Sydney. The cut on the shorts is unique, and haven’t worn a style like this before. It’s always important to balance fitted with loose. The shorts are quite hugging on me, so the floaty shape to the top complimented the look well. Open toe shoes seem like the only option going into the warmer months, so definitely need to invest in a few more pairs.

Hope you have all had a great weekend! Have a fab week!

Melbourne Cup At Daniel Sans

Last week was my first experience getting excited over the Melbourne Cup! We have horse racing in the UK, and ladies day at Royal Ascot is the one day in the year women dress up in their best frocks and hats. The best thing about the Melbourne Cup is regardless of attending the races or not, everyone still makes an effort to dress up and put a cheeky gamble on. Last Tuesday Andrea, Jo and I were lucky enough to be invited to Daniel Sans in Manly, sister restaurant of the Watson’s Bay Hotel. As soon as the 4 course menu came through I was sold! Freshly shucked oysters, softshell crab kimchi and sticky soy glazed lamb ribs were just some of the dishes on offer. I love heading over to Manly when I can, and the ferry over still makes me feel like a tourist in Sydney! Daniel Sans has the perfect location overlooking the beach, and the atmosphere was perfect for an afternoon of bubbles and Japanese cuisine.

The dress I’m wearing is not something I would usually choose. I can’t remember the last time I wore a bodycon! But being a special occasion I thought I’d step out of my comfort zone. Off the shoulder is a key trend this season, and it’s a flattering cut. Block colour (whether it be black, white or grey) will always tick the right box! Bohemian jewellery was a good contrast as the dress was quite formal.  and like to add a bit of a relaxed feel to any outfit. Loving the marble accents throughout the ring and bracelets. Not sure this trend will ever die in my eyes.

All in all it was a great day, and Daniel Sans were the perfect host. If you love the Watson’s Bay hotel you will love this place. And added bonus, the service was amazing. The staff couldn’t do enough for us. When a place is packed mid week, you know they are doing something right!
