Spring Tease

Was there a cheeky tease of spring in the air this weekend? The Sydney chill has definitely eased off, and I’m finding it hard to come to terms with packing up heavy knits for another year. I have an unhealthy obsession with winter fashion! Yes, I’m a little sad I can’t layer as much, but how good is it to pack away all your heavy jumpers to make room for all those lightweight neutral spring pieces?  My wardrobe is officially 50% more spacious! Plus I’m not going to lie, a taste of warmer weather felt good so good on my pale skin!

For the most part of winter, I have been wearing relaxed, oversized slouchy tailoring. But after hitting the gym a little more than usual I felt it was time to wear something a little more figure hugging! I introduce you to Sabo Skirt. If you're on the lookout for bohemian comfy summer threads look no further. I’m not a huge fan of tight clothing, but actually liked the lines on this dress. Asymmetric hems are always fun to style, and couldn’t quite resist a chunky cardigan as a fairwell to the winter chill. Plus, I’m honestly not ready to pack away every piece of knit just yet. Even in spring, there can be an evening breeze that condones that optional jacket in hand. Neutrals are always welcomed in my wardrobe when I’m not wearing black or navy, so opted for an all cream look. Is this the first time you have seen me in sneakers? Being in the mountains was an exception last month, but with added photography jobs in the mix I needed a flat option to help me get in and around the city. These Converse are a great street style shoe, and being white conveniently fit nicely into my monochrome closet.

The oversized clutch from Karen Millen is a nice alternative to a cross body bag, and it’s surprising how much you can actually fit in there! If you like to take an i pad or kindle on your daily commute then this could be your go to work bag! I always used to think of clutch bags as an evening accessory, but don’t let this assumption fool you. It’s a great option for a daytime brunch or as mentioned your day to day bag.

Hope you’re all having a great week! Won’t be long before fashion month kicks off which I am tres excited about! Who else is eager to see what’s in store for us all in the style world?

Stripes & Tassels

A couple of weekends back I made the trip to Melbourne for a relaxing weekend after snowboarding. Living in sneakers and thick socks the last couple of weeks, it was time to break out the stilettos for an urban bohemian styled look with tassels and a bit of leg! Even though Melbourne is a short flight south of Sydney, the temperatures in this concrete jungle are a closer comparison to the UK! Melbourne, much like Sydney is the ideal location to find your footing within the modelling world. Modeling agencies in Melbourne represent some of the worlds most famous and fashionable faces.Thankfully my boyfriend and I had a great cosy hotel to hibernate in when we weren’t checking out the local eateries. I was thrilled to meet up with fellow style blogger, Ina from Rose Taupe blog. I’ve met a few of the Melbourne bloggers over the last 6 months so it was great to meet and get to know her relaxed style over a collaboration behind and in front of the lens. I wish I could have seen some of the other girls, but the trip was planned to relax after our jam packed weekend in the mountains. I definitely need to revisit Melbourne for a blog trip in the near future.

Today’s look is channelling a more boho vibe, but I’ve tried to make it more city chic with a tailored coat and a warm knit and heels. This dress has great movement, and wish I could wear it on it’s on own. Unfortunately it's still too cold. Such a fan of the tassels still, and can see me taking this trend through to summer. Layering I am still holding onto, so this Staple The Label jumper is a nice contrast to the lightweight fabric of the dress. The longline fitted coat adds structure to the look and even though the outfit has a few layers, it doesn’t look too heavy. The high heels elongate the silhouette, which is always welcomed! That said, I love wearing flat shoes for more relaxed, off duty days and my feet thank me for it!

I promise I will have spring looks coming soon! I am just savouring my favourite fashion season for as long as possible! The weather seems to be heating up in Sydney, so will be shooting an editorial styled post on the beach in the next couple of weeks to revisit the coastline. I live in Bondi, so new excuse really! Have a great week guys!

Art Series Hotel, Melboune

Last weekend, Chris and I were up and away on our travels again! This time, we took the hour flight from Sydney to Melbourne for a much needed chilled weekend. After our snowboarding trip the week before it was nice to melt into a comfy hotel room and experience some of the eateries the city had to offer. I’ve only been to Melbourne one time before and loved the diversity of brunch options and European feel to the city. I’ve been eyeing up The Art Series Hotels for a while and personally enjoy staying at a boutique style establishment over a large hotel chain. I love flicking through a hotels online gallery when each room is designed uniquely.

So what makes The Art Series different? Each hotel takes design inspiration from a well known artist from a different creative background. The first hotel we had the pleasure of staying was The Olsen, which has 229 rooms located on Chapel Street. The hotel is inspired by abstract artist, John Olsen. He redefines the Australian Landscape from an aerial perspective. We arrived at the hotel at dusk, and being in a penthouse room we were lucky to crack open a bottle of bubbles to admire the city scape. We were so tired from a busy week we decided to order sushi to the room, enjoying a cosy night in before seeing more of the hotel in the morning. The alarm was set early for a quick caffeine fix and a meet up with a Melbourne blogger (all to be revealed in a few days). I was intrigued by the artwork and to explore the design aspect more. The pool is amazing! And being half inside half out, the heated pool was definitely inviting, especially with the steam escaping through the beams up through the roof terrace. They also have a cute coffee stand outside reception with Parisian inspired wicker furniture! Definitely got snapped for my Instagram!

We decided to grab a cab over to the next Art Series Hotel, The Blackman which is located on St Kilda Road. Inspired by artist, Charles Blackman, his art is poetic and probes the delicate world of human relationships. We were a little early for check in so dined in the restaurant downstairs for a hearty brunch and chai latte. Thankfully our room was ready in quick time so enjoyed some complimentary fudge (yum!) and got cracking on shooting my editorial style post that was published earlier this week. The room was a fashion dream, the furnishings and decor complimented my outfit perfectly! Clean crisp white sheets with golden notes throughout, it oozed European style and class. We also had a great view of Albert Park and Port Phillip Bay. It would be a perfect place to stay if visiting Melbourne for the Australian Grand Prix. That evening we spoilt ourselves with Babu Burger where you design your own meal. Definitely a cheat day, I could no way finish mine! I think Chris was in hotel heaven being able to watch Fox Footy and his favourite team play in the comfort of our king sized bed! It’s so easy to have an early night in these hotels with the comfort of the beds and the quiet surroundings.

A visit to Melbourne wouldn’t be complete without a trip to H&M and breakfast at The Grain Store. I love trying new places to eat, but discovered this little gem when I visited for Fashion Week, and was thoroughly impressed. Although the weather is a little colder than Sydney, it was nice to get away for a chilled weekend after the snow. Make sure you check out one of their hotels next time you are there!

Soft Neutral Tailoring

Neutrals have always been a part of my wardrobe, and now the sun is desperately trying to turn up the heat in Sydney it's time to start rocking these lighter colours. I'd love to say  it was the case in Melbourne last weekend. I headed down for a fly in visit to check out The Olsen and The Blackman hotel as have read amazing reviews on these artistic, quirky establishments. The setting for todays post is at The Blackman. I couldn’t pass up on the luxe beige furnishings to compliment this look. It’s been a while since shooting an editorial styled shoot, and with the weather being that touch colder in Victoria it seemed more fitting to photograph an indoor look! I’ve had my fair share of freezing my booty off in the snow these last few weeks so a nice warm hotel room was definitely on the cards!

I’ve always loved clothing that reveals a little bit of skin in the classiest way possible. Backless tops and slit skirts are the kind of skin baring I like to show, and when the fabric is a soft, weightless cotton then it’s a big tick in my books. Sydney label, Third Form released around this time last year, and I can’t get over the beauty of the pieces for the upcoming spring season. I literally want every item! Three major colours that filter through: Black, white and beige. This palette is already a winner in my eyes! Think crinkled fabrics, slit midi skirts, sharp shirts and peekaboo backs. It’s the kind of tailoring you could rock with a pair of birkenstocks or flats; that more slouchy look that isn’t too business, but more chilled for a morning coffee meeting on a spring day! I've layered my outfit with a Boohoo vest that is so warm and snug I'm struggling to take it off. It's a great addition to any basic look and those neutral tones are some of my favourite right now. I might be tempted to ditch my winter wardrobe after flashing a bit of skin! We’ll see what happens in the coming weeks!

Stay tuned for some of my photography from my stay at The Art Series hotels in the coming days!
