Rural Roll Necks

As you may have seen in my last style post, a few weekends ago I headed to the South of Sydney for a tranquil weekend amongst the trees and nature. Being a city girl through and through, these kind of weekends I need to experience more. As I work in digital Mon-Fri, I like to spend my weekends travelling to new places, away from my laptop, and it’s my chance to experience what Australia has to offer and do what I love: photography and capturing moments. Sydney has been my home for just over a year, and with weekends being precious, it’s the best time to soak up new chilled getaways whilst wearing my favourite relaxing threads.

Country Road honestly has some of the best knits this season, and if their Tasmanian winter campaign isn’t enough to bundle you up in a layering cocoon then I don’t know what will! Knit and lace has been an autumn favourite of mine for the past 2 years. It’s classic, contrasting and seductive in a minimalistic way. This cream jumper is super warm and I love the attached scarf that can be worn loose or wrapped around the neck for added warmth. Perfect for the dropped temperatures in the bush. The skirt is lightweight and soft to the touch, which is an important factor moving into the colder months. I find my skin can be a lot more sensitive so this delicate feel was a nice touch. Knee high boots are a necessity for winters in the UK, so when I saw these suede beauties it was not a difficult decision to style them with this look. The lace up detailing on the back compliment the intricacy of the skirt.

This look was finished off with silver hardware that’s simplistic, and a trusty pair of hand made sunglasses to shade the speckled light that peeked through the trees! Perfect for a weekend filled with not doing a lot other than drinking tea, eating good food and snuggling up in my tent! I had such a fun time sharing my 3 part glamping experience. Paperbark Camp Review

PaperBark Camp has been on my wish list ever since seeing the resort online last winter. It’s taken me a good 8 months to get myself down to the place. Honestly, it was worth the wait! And my boyfriend and I couldn’t wait to experience “glamorous camping’ for the first time. Paperbark is located in Jervis Bay, which is approx a 2.5 hour drive from Sydney. After a busy couple of months working and blogging, I was ready for a weekend away from the hustle and bustle. Tranquility is an understatement. When a resort offers breakfast from 8:30am, and a hot flask delivered to your porch you know you are onto a winner! I always miss breakfast at resorts, so was pleasantly surprised they were on the same relaxing wave length as me. Rice pudding, fresh fruit, granola, endless coffee and a choice of a hot menu option was on offer. Added bonus was the log fire that was burning within the dining area. Autumn was finally here, and to a Brit that sometimes misses those cosy comforts it was an extra special touch. 

After breakfast, we had the choice of using the camps outdoor equipment which ranges from paddle boards, to kayaks to bicycles. The mornings are not the warmest this time of year (hence the sleep in) and the bf is a Perth lad so obviously May in the cooler water was not an option! Plus we wanted to check out the next town along: Huskisson. Already thinking about our next meal, we jumped on a bike and rode 5km into town. The weather was warming up, so after a nice walk of the bay and a good meal inside us it was back to camp…….on one bike! Aka punctured tyre, this 5 ft 2 chick decided to cycle the majority of the way back with a 6ft 2 dude on the back. It was an experience nonetheless and to be honest it was my only exercise on this entire trip so was probably for the best! 

Dinner both nights were amazing. Night one: Paella night. Highly recommended when prepared by a Chilean chef! Night two: Kingfish, Alpaca rack and Coconut rice pudding. One thing to be aware of…..you won’t leave this place hungry! And the staff cannot do enough for you.

If you’re like me and love the outdoors but like a bit of luxury, glamping is the way to go. It’s rare to come by and it’s definitely an experience. There’s only 4 weeks left before they close until spring, so if you’re keen to go get booking asap. I’ll be uploading some of the outfits I wore at the camp so stay tuned for that!
