Crisp White Tassels

I am still pleasantly surprised when I encounter a new street in Bondi. I do a fair bit of walking in my local neighbourhood but there are still paths that I have never been down. The afternoon light in Bondi is one of the best I’ve seen, and we are even luckier now that it is light until about 7:30pm. The street I chose to shoot my monochrome look is not far from the beach, but late afternoon I can get away with some of my favourite type of street style shots…….In the road shots! I think I love this type of fashion photography the best. Probably because I am one of those girls that wait in anticipation for the street style shots to be published at Fashion Weeks over what’s on the runway.  It’s also the style of photography that inspires me the most. Some of my favourite fashion bloggers (Kristina Bazan and Gary Pepper) capture some of the most beautiful shots on the street, and truly inspire me to love what I do. My friend Andrea and I are finally back into the swing of shooting frequently again. We are constantly on the hunt for a new location and fabulous lighting, thankfully Sunday didn’t disappoint.

My look today retracts back to my bohemian style with this delicate fringed top. It’s lightweight, so perfect for the warmer days that Sydney is gracing us with. I particularly like how the back of the top dips a little and always opt for backless when I can in summer. Crisp white is always a winner with a tan and I can already sense I’ll be shooting a lot of bright clean looks these next couple of months. Culottes are still a staple in my wardrobe and could no way pass up on these high waisted wide style. Grids are a must and monochrome will always be a winner in my eyes!

There are a couple of events I’ll be attending with Andrea this week, so be sure to stay up to date on my Instagram page @bohochic_nlt. It’s also a place I like to share street style shots with myself behind the camera. Hope you are all having a great week so far!

Relaxing Weekends In Bondi

Sometimes weekends for me mean taking a step back and relaxing. Bondi is starting to get so busy with all the travellers, so my little bedroom near the beach is the perfect place to be at one with myself. I’m a sucker for candles, and feeling like I am still not used to the Aussie heat. For an hour each weekend it feels so relaxing cracking open the window for a bit of afternoon breeze burning my favourite candles. I recently discovered Circa Home, that is stocked in David Jones. I love the smell of fresh bedding so naturally my favourite scent is 1975 Cotton Flower and Freesia. Today When I came through the door from yoga, I was greeted by the delightful smell of the room diffuser. It really lifts my mood and helped me feel relaxed after a busy week at work. The packaging is also to die for. Minimal, baby blue and glass, it ticks all the right boxes for a stylish bedroom!

Today I am channeling my inner 60’s chick, and wanted to try something new with my hair. I’ve recently had a Balyage done and now that I’m closer to blonde it felt appropriate to sport a typical Bridget Bardot do! I am slowly breaking free from my monochrome wardrobe and introducing blue into my wardrobe for summer. It must be all those days eyeing up the shores of Sydney that inspired me. I have been looking for a style of playsuit like this one for months. It reminds me of the Alexander Wang show where the girls strutted the runway in the baby blue open split shirts. I’ve missed Missguided since being in Sydney, so thankfully they now ship to Australia so a piece of home has followed me here! A bold lip is a must on weekends and brings out the sexiness in all us females!

I hope you have had a nice relaxing weekend wherever you might be. Have a great week!

Grids

Last Monday was a public holiday in Sydney, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. It was my first proper beach filled weekend. It consisted of a 6km walk from Bondi to Coogee stopping by Wiley’s swimming baths, paddle boarding in Manly, movies to see Gone Girl (highly recommended) and a catch up with my blogger babe, Andrea. We usually plan out our locations, but Monday we decided to just wing it and opted for Woollahra. I’m not as familiar with this area of Sydney, but know the houses are quaint and boutiques look like they should be located on a Parisian side street. I fell in love with the character and aged look of this one house and knew it would be the perfect backdrop. It’s not far from my house and the sun was setting on the long weekend. Why couldn't it be longer!!

Today’s look definitely fits in with my monochrome themed wardrobe. My entire look is Staple The Label, which is a Sydney based brand. As you probably know I’m a fan of minimalism, so their “basics with a twist” moto definitely appeals to me. The hemline on the skirt is a little shorter than I would usually wear, but I love the asymmetric cut and the grid pattern I am in love with. The top is like nothing I have seen before. The top half has a faux leather overlay, which adds structure and edge to a basic silk tee. There’s also shorts to match this top, which I’ll be definitely investing in this summer. I am a sucker for an all white look and so much better with a tan!

I hope you all had a great weekend! Heads up, I’ll be doing Bondi Markets in the coming weeks so I’ll keep you updated on the dates.

Lady In Red

Ever since seeing the red trend on the Saint Laurent, Fendi and Opening Ceremony runways, it has made me crave this scarlet burst. Its tough introducing colour pop back into my wardrobe after such a long time. But there is something sexy and classic about this hue. I’ve always loved a bold red lip, and crop tops are standard now the weather has turned into the tropical heat I imagined Sydney would be. Is anyone else loving this weather right now? Definitely moved to the right country!

boohoo.com is my go to store for on trend fashion. It’s a British brand, so it’s my way of staying on trend with Northern hemisphere. The great thing now is all the summer stock is in the sale so I picked these trousers up for $20! I saw this cut on one of my favourite bloggers, Kristina Bazan at New York Fashion Week. She was wearing the BCBG Max azria version. They looked so good on her, so was pleasantly surprised to find them on Boohoo. I love how they have that extra piece of fabric which gives the style movement. I was I teamed the look with a white kimono, which was perfect as it was a windy day in North Bondi.

So ladies, introduce a touch of red into your spring wardrobe and be ahead. It’s currently a go to colour in the UK for their Autumn season, so invest now. And don’t forget a bold red lip. The colour I’m wearing is a mix between coral and red. And it’s long lasting. YSL never disappoints. If you’re reading this in Australia, I hope you had a great long weekend. It makes me crave beach days a lot more!
