The Summer Jumpsuit

Who would have thought that layering was still possible for the middle of December? That probably sounds like a crazy line to you readers Northern Hemisphere, but for a stifling Sydney I was pleasantly surprised when styling this look a couple of weeks back. A black jumpsuit in summer is still doable, it just means you have to be smart checking the fabrics to make sure they are breathable. The detailing on this one is impeccable, with the open back and split ankles it's made for the warmer months whilst staying structured. Off-shoulder is still a big hitter this month, and seemed a perfect accompaniment to make a comfortable, yet stylish monochrome daytime look.

I don’t wear flats in the majority of my blogposts, but wanted to keep the look a more relaxed one; especially when adding the straw wide brim hat. Don’t you just love swapping the felt variety for something more resort and coastal this time of year? So far, I think I’m doing better for summer styling than I did last year. I’ll put that down to finding my true style earlier this year, and not steering away from it regardless of the weather. I used to perceive as Australia as a denim cutoff boho loving country, which I was fully getting into last summer. This year, I’ve decided to pull my winter wardrobe through to the warmer months swapping out the heavier pieces for lighter fabrics and it’s going well. I still love boho inspired raw looking pieces, but trying to channel that more in my accessories. It’s a great mix, and takes me from the office Monday-Friday onto the beach or destination for the weekends. My wardrobe is slowly becoming more wearable for all occasions.

Would love to know how you are changing up your wardrobe coming into the New Year. Stay tuned for a few more style posts and a couple of special ‘Boho Behind The Lens’ shoots that I can’t wait to share with you guys. It’ll be Christmas before we all know it!

Braving The Cold

Baring my shoulders was a bit brave last week. Seriously, who would have ever thought a Brit would struggle in a Sydney winter (owning up to this sat behind my laptop). It’s probably a little premature to be wearing a black sleeveless jumpsuit, but couldn’t resist this Fifth Label little black number from NSW boutique, Wolf & Ordnance. If you haven’t come across this boutiques Instagram, you really need to! It’s clean, crisp and bright so right up my street! They stock some amazing brands: The Fifth Label, Asilio, C&M and many more. I’m a fan of good photography and they honestly nail the aesthetic and sharp imagery on social media. I remember when I was a teenager, I would venture out on a Saturday afternoon with my friends shopping. Cardiff, the city I am from is known for it’s boutiques and arcades. I was always drawn to these smaller retailers as wanted to pick up one off pieces and brands that weren’t as widespread. I think it’s really important to shop local, and keep these boutiques alive, and it’s nice I can do the same in Australia.

Most Sydneysiders are praying for summer, but if i’m honest I actually quite like this weather (as long as I wrapped up warm at home with a nice hot cup of tea). Unfortunately it’s no way warm enough to wear this jumpsuit alone, so layering is key. I opted for an Asilio Label coat for added length and a contrast in colour against the black. It looks quite thin, but don’t let that fool you. It’s so warm, no scarf was needed. The leather pockets add extra luxe to the look.

I was torn whether to style shoes or boots, but opted for the latter. Wearing shoes would have made the look feel more dressy, and wanted the outfit to feel relaxed to resinate the comfort of the look. Bulky boots from Urge Footwear were a great choice, and really loving that wooden styled heel. They are currently on sale, so if you’re after an end of season bargain these are your babies! I can definitely see me styling these with a bohemian styled dress in the summer.

#ExperienceEverything

Last week was possibly one of the most exciting weeks I’ve had in Sydney! It was an action packed week thanks to Boohoo.com. Last Wednesday was the launch of the new Boohoo winter collection and luckily enough it was right on my doorstep at Bondi Beach! It was lovely catching up with fellow bloggers Gabby and Alisha over mulled wine and ice-skating! It didn’t seem quite right experiencing a ‘christmassy’ activity in 20 degree weather and spent the night pondering how the outdoor rink was not melting already.

#experienceeverything is a global competition that Boohoo are running on Instagram to get followers involved in capturing their exciting moments. Alisha had two tickets to go glamping last Thursday and guess who her plus one was?.......me! So we headed by ferry to Cockatoo Island and spent most of our time shooting some looks with the breathtaking sunset. I’ve honestly never seen a sky so beautiful and definitely will be heading back soon! Did I mention we were the only ones on the entire island? Scary and exciting all in the same breath. Waking up to the most glorious sunrise, it was time to head out to my trapeze class that Boohoo arranged for me. AMAZING! 2 hours of flying through the sky being caught in the arms of a shirtless hottie made my experience that bit more fun! Silly me thought that this white jumpsuit would have been suitable for circus school! Obviously decided against that and shot this look with Andrea in Paddington.

As mentioned in a previous post, my biggest obsession this year is all white. Even though it is winter here, I just can’t get enough of this crisp clean look and can’t wait to see how Australia will approach this trend for spring/summer. I'm also loving my new hair products from Goldwell Australia which added body and shine to this look. Hope you’ve all had an awesome week and would love to know what your plans are!
